UP FRONT Eighth Grade Graduation: A Celebration of Friendship Friendship, connections and community were prominent themes as families gathered to celebrate eighth grade graduation on June 8. The multitalented Class of 2015, which experienced great successes in many areas including Science Olympiad, academics, athletics, language competitions and performing arts, was described by all as being a class with heart and soul, whose members feel like family. As an "embracing community that is full of passion, purpose and excellence," the class truly embodies the Latin School mission, Interim Head of School Shelley Greenwood said in her remarks. "You represent the reason Latin School exists," she said. Class President Brennan Besser spoke about the special connection that his classmates have with one another and the unforgettable moments they have shared. "Remember good times. Remember each other. And remember that we'll always be Latin Romans," Brennan told his fellow graduates, while bidding farewell to a few who would not be returning to Latin. Student speakers Christopher Quazzo and Will Nuelle reflected on their middle school experience and the close bonds their class forged over the years. Christopher took a serious approach talking about the impact of the Class of 2015 on the school. Will approached his humorous remarks from the perspective of a middle school locker. While complimenting the graduating eighth graders on their commitment to the pursuit of excellence, Middle School Director Deb Sampey also shared some words of advice, asking the members of the class to enjoy their lives, be confident in their abilities and "continue to be there for each other." l The Class of 2015: A community full of purpose and excellence. 4 Latin Magazine
