Upper School Graduation
In introducing the Class of 2009 at Commencement
on June 4, Upper School Director Ted Graf described
this group of graduating seniors as "fiercely loyal,
wicked smart (as they would say in Graf's native New
Hampshire) and feverishly curious."
Graf spoke about the graduates' many
accomplishments and strengths as family and friends
gathered in Moody Church to celebrate their years at
Latin and their first steps toward the future.
Student speaker Ned McLean shared some of the
many lessons, both humorous and meaningful, that he
learned during his 14-year tenure at the school. He
called on his class to take these lessons and "go forward
in life and give the world all we can."
Meanwhile, faculty speaker Kirk Greer spoke about
the invaluable gifts of community, trust and friendship
he received from the Class of 2009. Greer advised the
graduates to make time before college to get to know
themselves, "decide who you are and who you want to
be" and begin crafting their mission in life.
