of the American Revolution. Membership requires genealogical proof of direct blood descendancy from an American Revolutionary Patriot. As the registrar, William will approve all genealogical proofs and forward them to the state registrar. William's wife, Phyllis, is a Daughter of the American Revolution and an accomplished genealogist. 1967 John Friedman Susan Haskins-Doloff, executive producer of "eater Talk," has been awarded the 2019 NY EMMY Award for the Best Interview/Discussion Program. e winning episode, "If I Loved You and the Return of e Iceman," first aired in May 2018 and featured actors Jessie Mueller and Joshua Henry with musical director Andy Einhorn from last spring's Broadway revival of Carousel, discussing and performing sections from the score of the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic. And in December, Susan was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences/New York Chapter's Silver Circle Society, acknowledging her more than 25 years in New York television. Cary Malkin retired from the law firm of Mayer Brown LLP at the end of 2019 after spending 38 years as a partner there. For the last 13 years, he has served as its professional responsibility partner. Cary and his wife, Lisa '71, welcomed their first grandchild, George Arthur Keady, on January 17, 2019. He is named for two of his late great grandfathers, George C. Keady, Jr. of Longmeadow, MA, and Arthur D. Malkin of Chicago. George and his family live in Brooklyn, NY, and are thriving. 1968 Lila Young Silverstein From Roderick McNealy: "Patty and I just completed a five-day trip to Glacier National Park with 40 college classmates. Marvelous scenery, river rafting, and no bear sightings, thankfully. I continue to teach 25 or so marketing programs annually as part of the Association of National Advertisers faculty. Topics include consumer insights, customer focus, insight-driven innovation and writing effective briefs. I learn something new from each program. Members are major Fortune 100 companies. All the best to Latin '68!" Jack Segal passed away last summer. Jack was a psychotherapist and yoga instructor living in Highland Park. He moved several years ago to California and produced his own organic cereal blend called "Be Real." We extend our condolences to his family and friends. Michele Wagner Stone writes: "All is well in the Stone household. Last summer, while in Colorado, we visited with Mary Wolbach Lopert in Winter Park. Subsequently, Shayle Epstein and his wife, Janet, came to visit with us. Good times were had by all." 1969 Gail Dugas Ron Pen In October, the Class of '69 had the GREATEST 50th REUNION EVER! Bill Loeb provided nostalgic photos from our high school days. Erik Petersen sent us a seven-minute video of our graduation with sentimental glimpses of long-departed teachers. James Meserow hosted our Friday night gathering at the Saddle and Cycle Club. On Saturday morning, we visited the lower school and took a nostalgic tour of the 1 neighborhood. Ron Pen emceed our Saturday night dinner. Mr. Austin and Mrs. Kritzberg joined us, and Ron read a special message from Barbara Florio Hatch Graham. In the funniest moment of our reunion, Michael McCarthy read to us from his senior report card. anks to the classmates who contributed to Todd Rundgren's Spirit of Harmony Foundation in honor of Michael McCarthy. Ron and Carole Towne would like to specially thank Valerie Wiley and her husband, Tim Johnson, and Linda Cohn for providing a champagne and cake celebration at the end of the night. And the greatest thanks of all go to Kate Freed (formerly Jean Barks) for putting together and publishing a book of our personal stories and photos. We made the most of our reunion experience! Angus Shorey passed away surrounded by loved ones on ursday, December 5, 2019. Angus graduated from Raymond College at the University of the Pacific in 1973 and earned an MBA from Illinois Institute of Technology. Angus first worked in insurance while in California before returning to Chicago to work for e First National Bank as a private banker. Angus's love of the arts and written word were rewarded with an interest in the theater. He always had subscriptions to e Goodman and Shakespeare theaters. Although Angus was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his early 20s, he enjoyed a full and independent life for many years. He met Graciela Shorey in 1995, and his life was filled with love and laughter from then on. We extend our condolences to Graciela; his brother, J.D. Shorey '76; sisters, Margaret Shorey Elliott '70 and Sara Shorey Gebhard '80; and all of his family and friends. 1 35 LATIN MAGAZINE ยป WINTER 2020
