Amanda Alcock Cawdrey, pictured with her son Tim Cawdrey (namesake of Tim Alcock '76) at his high school graduation in 2017. Amanda has been living in Cincinnati, OH, growing her portrait photography business while raising three children. Kenneth Reffsin writes: "Hello Alums and fellow Latinites! While it's been many, many years since those glorious '70s, I still get the pleasure of driving past Latin School almost every day, and those memories keep me young. At least in my mind. For the last almost 19 years I've been selling and managing and practically living right down the street at Perillo BMW. It's pure pleasure to work with so many former classmates and current Latin families. ere is always an instant connection whenever Latin School comes up in a conversation. We are a special community bound together forever. Hot yoga, EBC, traveling and eating keep me busy when I'm not working and in fact, even my Yogi (Nicole Collias) and trainer (Tim Cleveland) have Latin roots! Latin will always be a part of me..." Carmen Tolbert, pictured with her children, writes: "Moving on to a new chapter in my life and expecting my first grandchild this summer. Life continues to be an adventure. Anxious to see Latin friends at our big 40th! What!? How did that happen?" 7 8 9 Lillian Tucker Johnson passed away on May 12, 2018. "Lil" grew up in the historic Black Chicago neighborhood of Bronzeville. She attended Doolittle School and Latin School of Chicago, where she was not just an academic standout but active in cheerleading teams and numerous school clubs. She graduated as the valedictorian at Wendall Phillips High School. At Princeton, Lillian was a member of a cohesive and supportive Black student community, earning a degree in psychology and meeting the love of her life, Marion Johnson. Lil and Marion, whose family affectionately nicknamed him Bud, began their married life in New Jersey, where Lil continued to develop a successful corporate career in marketing in New York while Bud completed his PhD. After moving to Houston, Lil ran a gourmet baking and catering company known as Lillie's Cookies. As much as she loved baking, Lil found her true calling when she became the director of the Windsor Village Married Couples' Ministry. Lil's life was centered on faith, family, friends and fun. She was whip-smart, observant, perceptive, and had an excellent memory. She will be missed. We extend our condolences to her sister, Linda Tucker '73. 1984 Block off the weekend of October 5-6 on your calendar and plan to be in Chicago for our 35th reunion! e main event is Saturday evening October 5, kicking off with a cocktail party at Latin. Faculty members and alumni from all reunion classes are invited to attend, and we'll gather as a class for photos, food, drinks and other fun. Afterwards, we'll continue the party at David Mendelson's parents' house, just around the corner, like we used to in high school. We promised to clean up this time! See you then! – Aristotle, Brad, Lisa, Leslie and Steve 10 6 7 8 9 10 41 LATIN MAGAZINE » SUMMER 2019
