L E T T E R F R O M T H E B O A R D C H A I R Dear Friends, As I conclude my 16th and final year as a parent at Latin, and my second as chair of the board of trustees, our community-wide focus on leadership is particularly meaningful. As a parent, I have seen first-hand the many ways that leadership is demonstrated in our school and fostered in our students. From faculty leading our students in discovery and inquiry, to coaches developing student athletes who play with excellence and integrity, our students leave Latin prepared to be positive contributors who will affect change in their future communities. I am deeply grateful to all our faculty and staff for their dedication to creating an environment where all types of leaders flourish. As the chair of our board of trustees, I have learned on a personal level that leadership doesn't mean having all the answers, but knowing what questions to ask and having the right partners to work through those answers with, partners who share my devotion to making Latin the best independent school in the country. I have been fortunate to work alongside our exceptional Head of School Randall Dunn and a team of dedicated trustees who spend countless hours thinking about how best to advance our mission while staying true to our values of excellence, integrity and community. I want to thank the other volunteer leaders whose commitment to Latin makes our community stronger: Pam Bless and Diane Saltoun, co- presidents of the Parent Association; Taylor Cope '01, president of the Alumni Association; Sarah Cobb, Eric Gorman & Aylice Toohey and Ceta Walters, Parent Latin Fund co-chairs; Denise & Matt Gibson and Liz & Dean Mihas, Scholarship Dinner co-chairs; Diana Aixalá & Gavin Campbell and Nicole & Brad Mann, Fidelitas Society chairs; Cam Oceguera '00 and Hannah Stone Zlotnick '01, Alumni Annual Giving co-chairs; Sandy Chapman, Joyce Greenblatt and Penny Turner, PALS co-chairs; and Janie & Marty Milner, Grandparent Giving chairs. Each of you plays an important leadership role and demonstrates excellence and integrity in all you do to strengthen the Latin community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Latin in this role, and for all each of you does to support Latin and our students. With gratitude, Georgy Ann Peluchiwski 2017–18 Chair, Board of Trustees "I am deeply grateful to all our faculty and staff for their dedication to creating an environment where all types of leaders flourish."
