Middle School Day of Service Middle school students and faculty members set out for their third annual day of service in April to give back to various communities across Chicago. Students visited several locations and participated in activities that included cleanup and rehab in Chicago parks, visiting with and assisting senior citizens in local retirement homes, working with residents at Misericordia and the New Hope Center, organizing clothing and other items for local homeless shelters, and working with kids at the Gary Comer Youth Center. The goal behind the day of service is to help students find causes they can be passionate about. It urges them to step out of their comfort zones, and, as Latins mission directs, encourages them to be concerned and contributing citizens. Students follow up their service day experience by gathering in groups to talk through the positive and challenging aspects of the day. Latin School of Chicago 13
