Marriages class notes Melissa Ross 02 to John Shoemaker in March 2011 1969 Gail Dugas Ron Pen We are sad to announce that Dr. Carl Kelly passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2010. After graduating from The Hill School and Tufts University, Carl earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and moved to California. He worked at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center and taught courses at three Cal State University campuses, California School of Psychology (now Alliant University) and Phillips Graduate Institute. Along the way, Carl earned accolades from students who honored him as Distinguished Adjunct Faculty in 1992 and Outstanding Staff Psychologist in 1995. Carl traveled extensively with his partner, Randall Hayden, and enjoyed opera, attending many performances in Santa Fe, Los Angeles and Chicago. We extend our condolences to his partner, his mother, Janet Kelly, and his extensive network of friends and family. 1970 Carol Carpenter Anderson Ann Cordes sends the following, along with a photo of her and Elizabeth Tina Endicott: After Tina left Latin following ninth grade, we have kept in touch, and we traveled together for three weeks this past summer in Mongolia and China. This photo was taken at dusk in the Gobi Desert. Tina is professor of history Emerita at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont; she has published frequently on Mongolian history and the Yuan Dynasty in China. Over the past 20 years, Ann has served as the executive director of several professional and trade associations at Association Management Center in Glenview. Ann Cordes 70 and Tina Endicott 70 visit the Gobi Desert. 50 Latin Magazine 1971 40th REUNION CLASS Please make plans to join us for our 40th Reunion in Chicago from September 23-25! Contact us through alumni@latinschool.org for information about our plans. 1974 Mary Haber Debbie Burkland writes: Stayed with Jim Adinamis before Christmas, and we did our usual whirlwind, see-everyone-we-can thing for a weekend. Ran into Lesley Prizant (lookin great) at RL. I am in touch with Lesley Miller, Roberta Castro Hollinger (shes teaching Zumba now!) and Abbe Anderson. Had a nice visit with Rhoda Miller (Lesleys mum) when I was home as well. Managed to do my own website (realreflexology.com) without hurling my computer out the window, so maybe Ive mellowed. It brought back Mr. Taylors class in our huge computer room in the old Upper School. Love and hugs to all. Liz Cutler reports: Education is a wonderful field to be in. This is my 26th year as a teacher, and I still love it. Im also the sustainability coordinator at Princeton Day School and the founding director of a non-profit that works on sustainability initiatives in schools. Class representative Mary Haber says: I am back in school, currently getting a masters in Early Childhood Special Education but hoping to transfer to Hopkins Mind, Brain & Teaching Program. Pretty cool. Im in touch with a few folks and was tickled when our handsome friends Jimmy Adinamis, Lawrence Hedblom and Raymond Cyrus treated me to a wonderful lunch on a recent trip to Chicago. My nephew David (son of Kathy Haber Kaplan 68) recently married, and they are expecting their first child in September. Im excited to become a great great-aunt. Otherwise, keeping busy and out of trouble in the Washington, D.C. area, keep in touch, everybody: maryhaber@mac.com.
