Scholarship Dinner 2018 41 Todd Nathan Sarne Endowed Memorial Scholarship Todd Sarne was looking forward to attending Latin School just like his older brother, Mark. His death in August 1991, just days before starting junior kindergarten, ended his dream. Shortly after Todd's death, we approached Latin to explore what we could do as a family to create something positive out of this tragedy. At the time, there was little financial aid for lower school students. We decided to establish a fund to support lower school scholarships. In this way, we honored Todd's memory by making his dream of attending Latin School a reality for others who otherwise would not have that opportunity. Three generations of our family have supported this fund: parents, Nancy & David Sarne; grandparents, the late Margit Sarne and the late Ruth & Ralph Lindauer; and siblings, Mark '03 (Heather) and Julie '12. Others have also graciously contributed over the years. Each year since Todd's death, one or more Latin lower school students have received scholarship support. In total, more than 30 scholarships have been awarded. Assisting students, who otherwise could not afford to attend Latin, not only benefits these students and their families, but also enriches the entire Latin community. Providing ongoing scholarship funding at Latin is a priority for our family. Our continuing contributions honor Todd's memory, help others obtain a quality education, increase diversity and enhance the Latin experience. Nancy & David Sarne Todd Sarne
