Beckett McMahan '02 escorts brother Michael McMahan '00 to his wedding in June. Tyler Holt sent a report this summer from his post overseas: "I'm in the city of Marjah in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. My job here is to advise, mentor and train the Afghan National Army. I work with the Afghan battalion commander and help the Marines from my unit to better partner with the Afghans. Most of the men I advise are 10 years my senior and have been fighting for 25 years. Fortunately, they respect Marines and we have built good relationships. It's good to be deployed with Marines again. It's even better to see what winning a counterinsurgency looks like. Winning is exactly what the Afghan Security Forces, with Marines supporting them, are doing in southern Helmand Province." He looks forward to hearing from all his Latin friends. We are sad to report that Tanya N. Lim passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2011. The bride and groom attended Emory University together and began dating a few years later when reunited by mutual friends. Nick Greene '04 was a groomsman, and Lindsay Hagan was the maid of honor. Latin Class of 2000 grads Peter Bixler, Anna Gurowsky and Anne Liggio also celebrated with the happy couple. Michael McMahan married Brooke Feldman in Santa Barbara, CA, on June 5, 2011 with Cesere Gagliardoni serving as best man. Michael's sister Beckett McMahan '02 escorted the groom to the church, resulting in a beautiful photo of the siblings. 2001 Jayna Athas Liz Johnson Gigi Stender Mark Wimbiscus Yoon Sadaf Jaffer married Daniel Sheffield at the Harvard Faculty Club on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. The couple celebrated with a reception in Chicago on July 2, 2011. A number of Latin alums joined in the celebration, including Polina Kropacheva, Marlyn Lozada, Erica Elden and Katy Griffin. Groom Dan Sheffield and bride Sadaf Jaffer '01 celebrated at their mehndi ceremony with Class of '01 alums Polina Kropacheva, Marlyn Lozada, Erica Elden and Katy Griffin.
