1936 Betty Vilas Hedblom passed away on September 2, 2015. Betty's concern for the poor and devotion to social justice led her to work in social services as a younger woman and in her later years to share her feelings through poetry. She worked in administrative posts in several social service agencies including the Evanston-based adoption agency e Cradle. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Betty was a supervisor of epilepsy clinics established and funded by the Junior League of Chicago at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. She was also a board member of what was then the Visiting Nurses Association of Chicago from 1962 to 1986. We extend our condolences to Betty's daughter Carol Curre '69, son Lawrence Hedbloom '74, sister Marian Reid '41, and all of her classmates, friends, and family. 1943 Nancy Kochs Shaw passed away on June 17, 2015. Nancy grew up right next door to the boys school, our current lower school, and her childhood home is now the lower school Annex. Nancy was a strong supporter of her local community in Indiana. Her efforts included the Jasper County Art League, Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary, the Newton, IN, YMCA, and as a classroom volunteer and reader at Woodrow Wilson school in Newton. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time at her cabin in northern Minnesota. We extend our condolences to her family, friends and classmates. 1944 Grace Dodge Kirk Camille McDonald Weiss William Barborka passed away on June 13, 2015 in Lincoln, NE, with his wife at his side. After gradusting from Yale in 1948, Bill worked in New York and Chicago on the agency and client sides of business and for many years as the director of advertising for Baker, Knapp and Tubbs. We extend our condolences to his wife, Emma, sons Adam '94 and Drake, and his classmates, family and friends. 1945 Kenneth Harris passed away on August 21, 2015, surrounded by his family. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Kenneth went on to produce TV shows in the 1940s and wrote commercials for news personality Mike Wallace. He then joined Sara Lee and was instumental in the company's sponsorship of the Academy Awards. He went on to be the director of AIMS Corporation for 25 years. He was a lover of classic movies and the Chicago Bears and was devoted to his children and wife. We extend our condolences to his family, friends and classmates. Have a new job? Recently married?
