Leslie Bradburn passed away on March 18, 2015 after suffering from a brain tumor. Leslie studied biology and psychology and graduated from Northwestern University. She earned an advanced degree in biology and taught at a Montessori school. Leslie was passionate about languages, martial arts and Buddhism. An accomplished scholar of Tibetan history, she served as the managing editor of the Yeshe De Text Preservation Project. A deeply devoted Dharma student, she manifested joy, delight and penetrating intelligence. She inspired everyone who came in contact with her. We extend our condolences to her husband, Jack Petranker; her children, Julia and Michael; and her classmates, family and friends. Joan Barrett Kellogg writes: "In early June, members of the class of '65 were invited to continue a tradition of inviting members of the 50th anniversary class to join the current graduates at Latin's commencement ceremony. Jennifer Hunter Galovich, Christy Smith Bohar and Joan Barrett Kellogg accepted the invitation. Jennifer flew in from Minnesota for the day, and Christy came from California with plans to spend the weekend with a friend. Clark Fetridge and Mickey Kurzon joined us for dinner. Clark's wife, Jeannie, joined us for this special gathering. Learn more about her work in Marketplace. 1969 Gail Dugas Ron Pen On June 14, 2015, Paxson "Packy" Offield passed away peacefully at his home in northern Michigan, surrounded by his loved ones following a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Packy graduated in 1975 from the University of Denver with a degree in Economics. In 1978, he was teaching at the Catalina Island School when he was asked to join the Santa Catalina Island Company. He spent 30 years serving as chairman, president and CEO. A dedicated conservationist, Packy's masterful stewardship of the Earth's natural resources and fisheries will impact generations to come. His philanthropic nature touched countless organizations in the Harbor Springs area. Some of his accomplishments include being presented the Commendador Award by the President of Panama in 2006 for the Peregrine Fund's work reintroducing the Harpy Eagle; the San Diego Zoological Society's Conservation Medal for his work satellite tagging marlin (2006); induction into the International Game Fishing Association Hall of Fame in 2011; and twice earning the distinguished honor of Tuna Club Angler of the Year. Spending time with his family and friends was the most important priority in Packy's life. Water was deeply embedded in Packy's heart and soul; he loved sportfishing and conservation equally and took every chance he could to promote the beauty and importance of healthy oceans, lakes and rivers. We extend our condolences to his wife, Susan; his children; and all of his family, friends and classmates. Jody Sherman passed away on May 11, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends. She attended Vermont Law School and spent countless hours advocating through the law school for those in need both financially and otherwise. She was most proud of her organizational skills and thrilled when she could have the opportunity to help others succeed. Jody developed multiple sclerosis many years ago and was proud of the time she was able to spend raising funds for the MS Society, mainly through the organization's annual bicycling events. She was the biggest Beatles fan in the state of Vermont. We extend our condolences to her mother, Jean; her siblings; and all of her family, friends and classmates.
