ALUMNI from Cam McKinney '93 "Our reunion gathering in October is sure to be a spectacular event, and one that is worth circling on your calendar." 58 This year has been overwhelmingly all about connections: connecting with fellow alumni, former and current faculty, old classmates and current students. I would like to thank each and every one of our participants, panelists and contributing alumni who have devoted time, energy and commitment to making this such a productive time for our Alumni Association. Each year the message from our alumni has become louder; different alumni have different needs at different stages of their lives and careers. Students, young professionals and established professionals all have varying curiosities and concerns, and each of them offers distinct and valuable contributions to our Latin community. As an Association, and a community, we embarked on several ambitious projects this year that were met with enthusiasm and enormous support from alumni representing many different eras. One of these events was held in late November at the Chicago offices of Google. It was the first-ever "Latin Professional Connections" evening, which attracted more than 100 alumni. People came to meet fellow members of the Latin community, reconnect with old friends and, of course, interact and hear from our distinguished alumni panelists. The event was designed to bring together successful entrepreneurs and professionals to discuss their career paths and challenges, answer questions and share their invaluable advice. Based on the astounding volume of positive feedback, we will undoubtedly hold more of these types of events in the future. Thank you again to moderator Collin Levy '93, from The Wall Street Journal; Billy Dec '90, of Rockit Ranch Productions; John Edelman '76, of Edelman Public Relations; Alexi Giannoulias '94, of BNY Mellon; Pam Netzky '93, of SkinnyPop; and Gigi Pritzker Pucker '80, of OddLot Entertainment for making this event so successful. L AT I N M AGAZINE Alumni Association President Our "Life After Latin" breakfast series anchored the Association's spring calendar and provided current Latin students the opportunity to hear from successful alumni about early career paths, how choosing a major in college did or did not shape their ultimate career direction, how to successfully pursue interests within the classroom, and generally everything about "life after Latin." No one has been more excited about this series than the parents of current students. (Some have even requested we make these forums mandatory!?) Importantly, the students themselves told us they felt the panels were informative, timely and productive. They saw significant value in speaking with our alumni, both recent, and veteran, and have encouraged us to expand on these opportunities next year. As alumni, we have ever-growing opportunities to give back to a school that helped shape our individual, academic and professional lives. I am thankful and appreciative of our Alumni Office, which through enormous efforts and creativity is always finding ways to strengthen our network and involve alumni in the life of the school. The headliner for 2013-14 will be Latin's 125th Year Anniversary celebration. From what I have been privy to, our reunion gathering in October is sure to be a spectacular event, and one that is worth circling on your calendar. I look forward to seeing many of you at the festivities this fall and throughout the next year. Sincerely, Cam McKinney
