class notes 1986 Mark Houghton-Scott Leslie writes: "Just wanted to Marianne Landa Chao Kristin Walter Robert Bobins passed away suddenly from a brief illness on May 9, 2009. Robert was a 14-year student at Latin, an avid swimmer, and loved to read. He received his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Denver. He later completed a master's degree in education at DePaul University and worked as a superb teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. He resumed his studies at the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business, where he received his MBA in 2004. At the time of his death, Robert was employed by PVS Chemicals where in 2007 he was responsible for bringing the You Be The Chemist (YBTC) challenge to the Chicago Public Schools. He is survived by his parents, Norman and Virginia Bobins, and many friends and colleagues. We extend our deepest condolences to Robert's friends and family. let you all know that TingTing and I have had the joy of welcoming our son to the world. Anders Mark Leslie was born on June 1, 2009 in Singapore. He and mum are healthy. I have been working on developing, building and operating carbon offset and renewable energy projects in the jungles of Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam for the last three years. It has been quite an adventure. Strangely enough, my priorities are changing a bit since June. It is nice not to see so much of the world as it is to hang out with a couple of people. At any rate, it would be good to hear from more of you on what is going on and what you are doing. Cameron David Smith was born in June 2008. He hears a lot about Latin days from his mom, Coline David Smith. Out in the Bay Area, Cam frequently sees Ezra Frary, son of Amy Mertz Frary. He and Ezra laugh at the pictures of their moms as kids. 1988 1990 Reunion Year Leslie Hillman Ballen Leslie Brownstein Garber Lesly Adolph Koo Naomi Azuma Julie Fogel Roether Chris Freund is the founder and Managing Partner of Errett Van Nice and wife, Julia, welcomed a son, Mekong Capital. Mekong Capital is a Vietnam-focused Private Equity firm, dealing with growth equity in Vietnamese companies. Mekong Capital has three existing funds under management, a team of 40-plus full time people in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, more than 20 completed private equity investments since Peter Errett Van Nice, born July 16, 2009. 1989 Dina Abraham Isaacs Bess Emily Auerbach was born on August 12, 2009 at 4 lbs 2 oz, 17 inches to Philip and Stephanie Ross Auerbach. Big Sister Julia and Big Brother Leo are very excited.
