The school would like to extend its thanks to departing board members Pamela Atkinson, Tom Begel, Sir Peter Crane, Greg Darnieder, David Fox, David Mendelson '84, Randall Mehrberg and Joseph Tyree for their hard work on behalf of Latin. On June 15, the school community came together to show its appreciation for outgoing Board Chair Charlie Gofen '84 at a surprise party in Latin's middle school. Charlie served the school with enduring devotion through the opening of the new middle school, development of a long-range plan and updated mission statement, as well as the most recent Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) accreditation process. Long-time trustee and Latin parent Jeffrey Sharp has been named the school's next board chair. Jeff is managing partner of the patent law firm of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, where he specializes in biotechnology patent law. He received a BSE in chemical engineering from Princeton University and practiced as an engineer in the chemical industry before receiving his J.D. from the University of Georgia. He served on the Campaign Steering Committee for The Campaign for Latin and, with his wife, Liz, has served as co-chair of the Latin School Annual Fund and of the Fidelitas Society. Jeff and Liz have two children at Latin: Dillon, who is a senior, and Catherine, who is in eighth grade.
