LETTER FROM THE BOARD CHAIR Dear Friends, This year the board in partnership with Randall and his leadership team spent the year fully immersed in planning for Latin's future and are proud to share with the community our updated strategic design, Latin LEADs. As you know, the primary role of the board is to support our head of school and partner with him to set the strategic direction for Latin's future. This year, we were fully engaged in interesting discussions and collaborations that resulted in a dynamic plan for Latin's future. The board wants to thank Randall for his vision, leadership and partnership. Our leaders in this endeavor, trustee, Dara Milner, and Middle School Director Deb Sampey, along with our consultant Greenwich Leadership Partners, put in countless hours to insure all voices were heard and that this plan represented all members of our community. As trustees we also spent time this year working on succession planning for board leadership and are pleased to announce the addition of a chair-elect/vice-chair position to insure smoother transitions between board chairs. David Koo was elected as our chair-elect and will serve in this role for the 2019–20 school year. He will succeed me as board chair beginning in the 2020–21 school year. Randall and I both look forward to working with David and thank him for taking on this important role. We also spent time working with school leadership addressing issues of risk management and facilities planning including the Greenwood Learning Garden. I want to thank the other volunteer leaders whose commitment to Latin makes our community stronger: Sunhee Lee, president of the Parent Association; Jenny Cizner '95, president of the Alumni Association; Liz Mihas, Development Committee chair; Nicole Mann and David Ricci, Fidelitas Society co-chairs; Brianna & Michael Fosnaugh and Lesly & David Koo, Romans Raise & Revel co-chairs; Sarah Cobb, Sophie Goodwillie, Anne Mathew, Tolu Onigbanjo, Aylice Toohey and Ceta Walters, Parent Latin Fund co-chairs; Scott Dias '98 and Cam Oceguera '00, Alumni Annual Giving co-chairs, and Janie & Marty Milner, Grandparent Giving chairs. We look forward to continuing to work to insure a bright future for Latin and all of our learners.
