Dear Latin Community, We spent the 2018–19 school year thoughtfully designing our next strategic plan. The process engaged everyone from students, to alumni, to faculty and staff, to parents, and required us to collectively conceive the path for Latin for the next five years. In a year with action as a theme, it was rewarding to proactively make choices about how we want to move our school forward. The actions of our community this year confirmed that we value and strive to protect the many aspects of the Latin experience that make our school unique. Philanthropic commitment to annual giving and endowment allow us to achieve our vision on a daily basis. In addition, leadership giving sustains Latin's mission for the long term. The development of the Greenwood Learning Garden in the outdoor space of 1547 N. Dearborn and the receipt of the largest bequest in the school's history are just two examples of how giving propels our strategic progress. I am grateful for the consistent and generous support of our faculty, staff, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents and friends who deem Latin a worthy recipient of their gifts. I feel the same about our volunteer leaders who embrace our shared values of excellence, integrity and community, not as abstract ideas, but as a call to action. I especially want to thank the entire board of trustees for their service, and, in particular, Board Chair Georgy Ann Peluchiwski—our collaborative partnership is a gift in and of itself. Our new strategic plan provides us with the words that will serve as a map for our future, but our actions are what will take us to the summit. Based on the examples set in 2018–19, we have the motivation, the support and trust to enter our next decade with confidence. Many thanks, Randall Dunn Head of School LETTER FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL "Our new strategic plan provides us with the words that will serve as a map for our future, but our actions are what will take us to the summit."
