2018 2018 ' 04 ' 15 ' 16 ' 03 ' 05 –'15 Teolis and the upper school band play "Happy Birthday," among other popular tunes, at seven celebrations honoring the city's birthday at the Chicago History Museum. Teolis chaperones more than 100 band and chorus students to France, performing in concerts, visiting with French students and sightseeing as part of their Project Week experience. Other band/chorus trips have included England (2000), Ireland (2004), Finland and Estonia (2008) and Germany (2012). Latin alumni surprise Teolis at his final instrumental music concert by naming the band room after him. Teolis and the upper school band are invited to celebrate the world's longest hot dog at the Taste of Chicago. Since the Big Games inaugural event in 2003, Teolis and the upper school band keep the crowd entertained and excited. Bower begins a new annual event when he moves the Latin vs. Parker varsity basketball games to Loyola University to accommodate growing spectator attendance. Now hosted by DePaul University, the event is known as the "Big Games." ' 11 Bower is honored with PCA Coach of the Year award. 2018 2018 2018 2018 2018 ' 06 Bower and the girls soccer team win the state championship for the first time in Latin's history. Bower leads the boys soccer team to the state championship for the first time in Latin history; Bower is inducted into the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA) Hall of Fame. Tom BOWER ' 16 ' 18 Between the upper school boys and girls soccer teams, Bower ends the year with more than 700 career wins: 326 for the girls, 400 for the boys.
