���He was an amazing and generous teacher. It���s hard to imagine him no longer walking the halls in his red elbow-patch cardigan, a bundle of books under his arm, or fielding burning lit questions while dispensing jelly beans in his office.��� ��� Abigail Luthin, Class of 1990 Kendra Gaines Class of 1964 I owe Richard Dolezal a great debt. Thanks to him, I was inspired to earn my doctorate in English literature and go on to a meaningful and fulfulling teaching career. Also thanks to him, I was the only freshman undergraduate student who actually knew how to do a research paper. I still retain the one he graded when I was in his senior English class. I used to wonder how he managed to correct all those errant commas! I smile at the memory, even as I wipe away the tears that honor him. Opposite page: A student helps himself to Dr. D���s candy jar.
