You also can send notes to the Alumni Office at alumi@latinschool.org, and we will forward them to your representative. 1924 Hannah-Elizabeth ���Beth��� Spohn Hardy passed away April 12, 2010, less than two months before her 105th birthday. She was the oldest living Latin alum for many years. Dr. Kendra H. Gaines ���64, who profiled her for the Spring 2009 Latin Magazine, writes, ���I like to think of her reunited with her dear friends, chatting up a storm! She adored the article you published, and many of her friends demanded copies. She was an extraordinary lady, and heaven knows we shall miss her.��� Our condolences to Kendra and all who knew and loved Beth. 1927 Ralph E. Swanson passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of June 8, 2010 at the age of 100. Mr. Swanson was a graduate of the Chicago Latin School in 1927 and Williams College in 1931. He spent his entire career working in real estate in Chicago, the city he loved. Our condolences to his family and friends. 1944 Grace Dodge Kirk Camille McDonald Weiss Ruth Lee Smith passed away in Caracas, Venezuela, on March 5, 2010, after suffering for several years from a progressive brain illness known as Multiple System Atrophy, for which there is no known cure. According to her husband, Warren W. Smith, Jr., she often spoke of Latin School with affection. Our condolences to Warren, and their family and friends. 1949 Peter Barrett Elizabeth Rupprecht Peter Barrett shares that he enjoyed attending the reunion party at the University Club last October with his sister Susan Moffat ���59. It was her 50th and his 60th. Beth Spohn Hardy with her friend Dr. Kendra Gaines. 38 Latin Magazine Bernard ���Bernie��� Rogers III passed away on September 10, 2010. Bernie attended Boys��� Latin from kindergarten through middle school and graduated from Yale. He worked most of his life at Marsh McLennon and Co. in Chicago and New York, and divided his time most recently between Aspen, CO, St. Barths and Fish Creek, WI. According to his sister Hope Haff ���56, he lived his life with verve, style and a lot of energy. We extend our condolences to his sisters Hope and Mary Jane Clay ���46, and his three sons, three stepchildren and six step-grandchildren. Bernie was a great-great-nephew of Jane Addams and a great-nephew of the architect James Gamble Rogers, who designed many buildings at Yale and other colleges (as well as the original Francis W. Parker building).
