In Memoriam Andrew Schwertfeger '01 has been making great strides as a film producer in New York. He most recently completed work on the film Happy Tears, written/directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein, and starring Demi Moore, Parker Posey, Rip Torn and Ellen Barkin. He is already hard at work developing two other projects currently scheduled to go into production this fall. (see Marketplace for full listing). We have learned of the deaths of the following members of the Latin community. I'm also freelancing. (See Marketplace for full listing.) Emily Hanan shares that, "After spending a few years living in Manhattan, I am now back in Chicago (yay!), specifically, the South Loop. I'm really enjoying exploring the area – it definitely has some fun hot spots! It's been a great year-and-a-half being back here, and a lot has happened. Upon moving back, I started a new job doing investor relations at Grosvenor Capital Management, L.P. (a fund of funds). I work with a great group of people and have learned a lot, so overall I'm enjoying it very much. Last February I had the chance to visit some Parker friends who were living abroad in Croatia. It is a beautiful country, with a lot of really rich history. Although it probably wasn't the ideal time of year to go, it was an awesome adventure nonetheless. Later in the year, my brother, Brad '00, got married in Napa, California. Fellow alumnus Eli Cutler '00 stood up at the wedding and helped celebrate the whole weekend. Brad and his wife Natasha live in Gramercy and plan to stay in New York. We miss them but fortunately get to see them often. The rest of the year was somewhat low key . . . lots of hanging out, cruising around Chicago (I especially love walking around the Bucktown area), and going to fun restaurants (current favorites include La Madia, Wakamono, Prosecco, the Grocery Bistro, Mercadito...), etc. All in all, life is good! This upcoming year promises to be quite busy with travel, mostly on account of friends' weddings. I still can't believe we're entering that stage of our lives! It's crazy but a lot of fun. I hope all is well with the rest of you too." Anthony Jason Venturini writes: "Not married, no kids, travel often, just got back from the Philippines. Pursuing comedic acting enrolled and performing at the Second City Chicago and the Gorilla Tango Theatre. Check me out!" (See Marketplace for full listing.) 2003 Emily Daviau Kris Ekdahl Alice Mathias Lauren Shatto writes: "After spending two years in 1 1 Natasha and Brad Hanan '00 at their wedding. Boston, I have finally moved back to Chicago with my now-fiance, fellow '03 graduate, Garrett Jones. I teach Pre-K in the Chicago Public Schools system at the new Disney IIlinois Magnet school while Garrett attends med school at Rush Medical College. It has been a fun, fastpaced year, and I'm so happy to finally be back home!" Latin School of Chicago 59
