76 grads Jennifer Stix, Martha Tedeschi, Jeanie Calenoff, Deirdre Sullivan Frees and Susan Ocasek Clayton enjoying a minireunion last summer. class notes Class Correspondent Tracey Rappoport Greenwood 76 and husband, Paul, pose for a portrait. It was great seeing Brian and his mother Mrs. Buralli (now Sheila Sullivan), one of Latins former math teachers. Everyone looked great. There were also two unofficial Latin reunions, one held by Susan Ocasek Clayton and the second by Dan Masons sister, Myra Beisler 78. Patrick had the pleasure of visiting with Jeanie Calenoff, Curtiss Cohen, Randy Greenberg, Dan Mason, Susan Ocasek Clayton, Jennifer Stix and Martha Tedeschi at those garden parties. Two fantastic evenings! He also went to Madison, WI and got to visit with Dr. Deidre Sullivan Frees, who is still the same charming person she always was. Patrick thinks that everyone seems pretty much the same, except when he looks through his 1976 yearbook, the teachers look younger than he does now! One of the things he values most about moving back to Chicago three years ago is being able to reconnect with some of our old mates who are still in the area. Dr. Deidre Sullivan Frees recently obtained her teaching certificate and is now teaching second and third grades in the Madison, WI public schools. Even though it is harder than she ever imagined, she loves it. Mary Cosgrave moved back to Chicago from Philadelphia. Philly just wasnt for me and the best part was NYC . . . haha! I now have a great job with Montblanc at 900 N. Michigan Ave: lots of fun and great people. Everyone please come by and say hello . . . would love to catch up! Tracey Rappoport Greenwood says: Ive been going through old photos from Latin and will have lots to share soon. As mentioned above, Susan Ocasek Clayton hosted a mini reunion party in 2010 and got to see many of her classmates. Her mother has finally retired and is living in an apartment in Oak Park in the same building as Jennifer Stixs mom. As for me, I am sorry to say that I have left the Chicago 76 grads Susan Ocasek Clayton, Patrick Howell and Sheila Sullivan visiting last summer. 52 Latin Magazine area for the second time. After the sudden passing of my dad in 2004, I was fortunate to reconnect in 2005 with a previous college beau, Paul Greenwood. We were married in 2006, and Elyssa and I relocated to Maine. I currently work part time at Colby College in the Biology Department and part time at home, and I have several projects in the fire. Some of those include: up-cycling or recycling all types of products, and publishing interactive childrens books. Paul and I have two girls: Elyssa is finishing up her freshman year in high school and although Morgan is just completing sixth grade, she feels more like she is supposed to be in high school. I love hearing from all of you. Thank you for the input and the pictures. 1978 Liz Garvin Lael Williams Melville writes: Hello Latin School Alumni! I am sending you a shout out from the great state of Texas where I reside with my husband of 28 years, Randy, and our three sons! Our son Sterling is at Colgate University where he will be a senior in the fall. Our second son, Tyler, will be a sophomore at Dartmouth College, and our youngest son, Myles, will be entering his senior year at the Hun School of Princeton. Randy is a part of the PepsiCo team, where he delivers both numbers and leadership. After leaving Latin, I went on to Princeton University, where I met Randy. I earned my doctorate in psychology and enjoyed several wonderful years working in the private sector as well as academia. Though these opportunities were wonderful, I believe my greatest accomplishment has been the role of a wife and mother. In that role, I learned more about giving, creating, sharing, caring and loving than in any another role I have had the joy of experiencing. It has not all been easy, but it has all been good!
