the graduating class traveled to Lake Geneva from homes in Las Vegas, NV; Pokomoke City, MD; and Boca Raton, FL. Those attending included Bob Katz, Bert Holleb, Bill Diener, Bill Ullmann, Larry Rayner and Mike Fish. Jerry Bernstein was not able to attend but called and spoke with everyone from his home in California. All those attending were part of the 1949 Latin School football team that came within 6 points of winning a Private School League football title. Now, at the age of 77 or 78, save for a few medical issues and several hip and knee replacements, all were fit and spry with fully intact memories and senses of humor. Snappily attired in freshly minted orange and blue CLS 1950 caps and orange T-shirts emblazoned with royal blue logos Chicago Latin School, 60th Reunion, August 6-8, 2010 and Champs of 50 (the moniker often used to describe the graduating class that year), the participants spent a delightful weekend hanging out, renewing old friendships, sightseeing, motor boating on Lake Geneva and attending a summer theater performance. The group, along with nowdeceased members Dick Stoll and Bill Grace, has been meeting at periodic intervals since graduation. Consensus was that the next reunion should be no later than 2015. 1951 Ivan Strauss Nancy Bering Mayo and her husband, John, are longtime residents of Sedona, AZ. Their oldest granddaughter married recently in California. Claudette Roth Kotrich 47, Barbra Hendrickson Winter 49, and Caroline 49 and Fred Thompson 47 enjoyed sharing stories and singing school songs during their visit to Latin in April. Dorothy Floto Kohl says that she is enjoying retirement after 33 years of volunteer work at the North Broward Medical Center near her home of 37 years in Pompano Beach, FL. Dotty says she likes living in Florida; as in Chicago, she overlooks a large body of water to the east, but the climate is much more agreeable. She swims and exercises on a daily basis, and once or twice a year takes a Caribbean cruise from nearby Port Everglades. Denny Mayer and his wife, Linda, continue to live in Glencoe, where Denny attends lectures and programs at nearby senior centers. Their daughter Pollys oldest daughter, Katherine (named for Dennys mother, Katherine Selz Mayer 27), is currently living in Turkey, where she is a translator for an international law firm. Ross Robbins reports the recent birth of a grandson and namesake, Felix Ross Wack. Ross and Irene divide their time between homes in Chicago and Boca Grande, FL. (In 2010, pictured left to right): Bob Katz (#42), Bert Holleb (not in team photo), Bill Diener (#47), Bill Ullmann (#46), Larry Rayner (#32, senior prefect) and Mike Fish (#49).
