CLASS NOTES 1993 Emily Johnson Barton Jimmy Chuck writes: "After serving as the regional director for southeast Europe's largest private equity real estate fund from 2007-2009, I left my base in Split, Croatia, and co-founded a boutique investment bank in Zagreb. Our clients included some major corporations in CEE and small to medium-sized businesses. We were involved in a variety of transactions; the most notable was defining and executing a corporation's renewable energy strategy with follow-on investments of US $350 million over the next five years. I left this venture in May 2011 and moved to Dubrovnik to focus full-time on a dream I had begun work on when I arrived to Croatia in 2007: creating a commercial airline to connect Croatia's Adriatic coast to its 1,100 islands using amphibious seaplanes. Through intense collaboration with the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency over the past two years, commercial seaplane regulations were passed into law by Croatia's Parliament in 2011. Since then, my focus has been on building the commercial potential of "Adriatic Seaplanes" to ensure that its June 2012 launch will be a success that generates strong investor returns as well as drives economic and social development for years to come. The Adriatic Seaplanes website will be live in late April, but inquiries and reservations can be directed to me at james@adriaticseaplanes.com. As if the wonders of Croatia's Adriatic coast were not enough incentive to visit, I will gladly comp flights for LSC alums of all years, as well as their traveling companions in 2012. Best regards from Dubrovnik."
