Scholarship Dinner 2018 27 Dr. Richard R. Dolezal Endowed Scholarship Fund Dr. Richard R. Dolezal brought kindness, inspiration, and a love of learning to generations of Latin students. To all who knew him as a talented teacher, friend and colleague, he represented the heart and soul of what makes Latin great. As current parent Jillisa Brittan '81 remembers, "Dick was the most important teacher I had in my life. He truly opened up the life of the mind for me and I think of him almost every time that I am reading literature. For me, and I believe for other students of Dick's, he was synonymous with Latin." Dr. Dolezal cared deeply about making a Latin School education accessible to students in need. In life, he gave generously to financial aid. After his passing, more than 100 donors gathered to create the Richard R. Dolezal Endowed Scholarship Fund. Soon after, the school was notified that Dr. Dolezal had left Latin a bequest, and a full endowed scholarship was formed. In 2014, Latin awarded the Richard R. Dolezal Scholarship for the first time. As Dr. Dolezal's spirit lives on in our hallways, classrooms, and stories, so does his legacy of sharing a good book. Dr. Richard R. Dolezal
