Scholarship Dinner 2018 43 Jeff Windus Memorial Scholarship Endowment Jeff Windus, upper school English teacher and long-time freshman dean, was a mentor and friend to many during his 13 years at Latin. Soon after his passing in 2014, Latin set out to create an endowed scholarship fund in his memory as a testament to his enduring impact on Latin, his colleagues and many students over the years. At Mr. Windus' memorial service, attended by nearly 500 students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends, upper school director Ted Graf recalled lessons he learned from Jeff: "be expansive and inclusive of all… immerse yourself in the soup of relationships that make a school a school…and teach with love and through love. Whether it's language or literature or science or drama or math or history, love it up; love it inside out, so you can convey that love to your students." Mr. Windus' commitment to students endures through his endowment fund, which helps ensure Latin continues to be a home to students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Jeff Windus
