Scholarship Dinner 2018 25 Cozzi Family Endowed Scholarship Fund For us, attending Latin wouldn't have been possible without financial and other critical support from the school, our family and friends. Our neighborhood school wasn't meeting our needs, and our family was committed to making sure that we had access to the highest quality education. Making the move to Latin in the lower school was a difficult transition, but with the support of amazing teachers it was a decision that continues to influence our lives today. We established the Cozzi Family Endowed Scholarship in 2012 to honor the memory of our grandmother, Agnes Cozzi. Her dedication and commitment to our education helped pave the path from Chicago public schools to Latin, and to college and graduate school. Her generosity and caring set the example we aspire to follow today. Last year, we made a further commitment to grow the fund to honor the memory of our mom, Barbara Cozzi. We did so in appreciation of the many sacrifices she made for us throughout her life, and to recognize her love for Latin. She was an active volunteer in the classroom and with the parent association, and was a fixture helping out at the school's former thrift store, Finders Keepers, in the 1970s and 1980s. She was also thrilled to be a part of the school community a second time around, as a grandparent to Aidan '16 and Cameron '19. Our involvement as alumni and volunteers for Latin flow from her; she had a deep appreciation for how a Latin education transformed our lives. To be the best school it can be, Latin must be able to attract the very best students and families, and to ensure that the school is accessible to them. By creating a permanent, endowed scholarship fund, we hope that we are helping to provide the resources Latin needs to enroll great students, support them while they attend, and fully welcome them into our great school community.
