UP FRONT Trustee News Latin School is fortunate to have an extremely talented Board of Trustees committed to the continued success of the school and its mission. The school would like to extend its thanks to departing board members Philip D. Block III '54, Aline O'Connor Funk, Beatrice James-Moore and William Pate, Charter Trustees Mark S. Hoplamazian, Charles J. Hunter and Emily Heisley Stoeckel, Alumni Trustee David W. Valentine '88 and Senior Trustees John H. Mathias, Jr. and Kelly R. Welsh for their hard work on behalf of Latin. We also would like to congratulate Emily Emily Heisley Stoeckel Diana Aixalá Heisley Stoeckel, who was recognized with the Marshall B. Front Award this year at graduation. The Marshall B. Front Award was established by the Committee on Trustees of the Board of Trustees to be conferred not more often than annually to that current or former trustee of Latin School of Chicago whose dedication and stewardship have been extraordinary and whose efforts have truly enhanced the school. Please welcome the following new members of the Board of Trustees: Diana Aixalá Meta Berger Angela Dago Diana Aixalá is a Latin School parent and has been an active member of the school community for the past decade. She has held several Parent Association positions, including primary school vice president, grade chair and co-chair of the Latin Book Fair. Ms. Aixalá was also a member of the Capital Campaign committee for Latin and will be co-chairing the 2012 Scholarship Dinner event. She has served on the board of several institutions, including: Mary Meyer School 2001-2005, as president 2003-2005; Chicago Children's Museum auxiliary board 2003-2010, as co-president 2007-2009; and the High Jump board since 2007, currently chairing the development committee. Previously, she was a marketing director at Kraft Foods from 1989-2001 and teamwork/leadership consultant from 2001-2005. She holds a B.A. from Boston University and an MBA from The University of Michigan. Meta Berger Senior Trustee Meta Berger is the widow of Ronald '51, a Latin alumnus and past trustee; the mother of Jonathan '80 & Rebecca, Jan '75, Louis and Robin '77; and grandmother of J.R. '05, and current Latin students Michael '13, Jessica '17 and Sydney '20. Ms. Berger has been involved with many Chicago organizations. She has been both a member and chair of the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation executive board, a member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center advisory board, a member and past president of the American Jewish Committee board, and a trustee and past women's board president of the Museum of Contemporary Art. She also is involved with the Jewish Women's Foundation as a lifetime member and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a governing member. Angela M. Dago Senior Trustee Angela Dago is returning to the board as a senior trustee. She is president and founder of Divine Financial Consulting Inc., an organization that educates young adults and teenagers about financial literacy and provides general financial advice. Ms. Dago earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Chicago and an MBA in finance and marketing from the University of Illinois- Chicago. Ms. Dago has served the school in many ways as a trustee, a Parent Association grade chair and lower school vice president, an Annual Fund chair, and the ninth grade Capital Campaign captain. 10 Latin Magazine
