I love that there is a variety of offerings, both curricular and extracurricular, led by teachers who are passionate about them." — MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT For 128 years, Latin has been a school community in which every member shares a love of lifelong learning. True to a liberal arts tradition, a Latin education is an understanding of why we learn and how we use our abilities. Our experienced teachers craft unique learning experiences and execute them with hands-on, immersive activities. At Latin, our students and teachers challenge themselves and each other. Struggle is honored as much as growth, and viewed as an essential part of the educational journey. Upper school students spend one week each March exploring the world outside of the classroom during Project Week. Students can choose to learn about literature, art, technology or the Civil Rights movement, participate in community service or outdoor education, travel the world or get to know their city in a new way. Latin Community Values Our shared values of excellence, community and integrity affirm and define us. They serve as guideposts for all we do, and connect us – students, teachers, parents and alumni – to each other and to Latin. EXCELLENCE We value learning as a process of meaningful inquiry, reflection on feedback, and striving to improve. COMMUNITY We value inclusion because each one of us is a resource and inspiration for learning and social action. INTEGRITY We value honesty and sincerity because our choices shape the lives of others in our community.
