Upper School Project Week
1) INTERNING - With the help of a career sponsor, students get
work experience in Chicago in their desired field;
2) POETRY OF PLACE - While in York, England, students
explored the importance of place, and wrote poems inspired
by places they visited; 3) THE ART OF MEDIEVAL WARFARE
- Students studied medieval warfare strategies and invented
and tested their own miniature siege weapons; 4) HIKING TO
HAVASU FALLS - Students challenged themselves physically
and mentally while hiking and camping near the turquoise waters and
red sandstone cliffs of Havasu Falls in Arizona; 5) BARCELONA ART &
CULTURE - After honing their photography skills traveling around Barcelona,
students created children's books for the lower school library using their
photos and inspired by their journey to Spain; 6) BOLIVIA: INTRO TO
MOUNTAINEERING - Students learned the basics of mountaineering,
studied Bolivian cultural history and explored Inca ruins; 7) FOODTOPIA!
- After taking culinary classes at The Chopping Block, students prepared
and served lunch for 150 homeless guests at Two Li'l Fishes; 8) MINDFUL
CHICAGO - Students studied a variety of yoga styles and meditation in an
effort to better manage stress, become mindful and prioritize wellness;
9) ICELAND, LAND OF FIRE AND ICE - Students explored Iceland's beauty,
literature, and geology, and connected with its people.
