News & Notes 10 YEARS OF SERVICE Barb knows so much about the brain of a middle school student. She cares about the kids' hearts and souls and is always looking for ways to encourage, entertain and challenge them with the perfect book." – middle school colleague "[On project week in Paris]…It was awesome to see Jeri in her element with the kids – talking about art, making art with them, holding salon discussions about Picasso and Man Ray. They walked away with such a deep affection for art of the Lost Generation – and an abiding respect for Jeri." – upper school colleague I don't know anyone who works harder than Fran. She designs clever lessons for her students, works one-on-one reviewing, moves around the classroom, uses the SmartBoard like a pro and engages every person in her classroom." – middle school colleague 26 YEARS OF SERVICE Words most often used to describe her: generous, amazing, thoughtful, passionate, knowledgeable, cultured. Claim to fame: magical research skills. According to both students and faculty, Jeri could find almost anything you needed in the book stacks. Will be missed for: her extensive party-planning skills and her delicious homemade treats made to celebrate the birthdays and accomplishments of advisees and colleagues. Words most often used to describe her: remarkable, Packer's fan, a hockey lover, the best of the best, a wealth of knowledge, a person of great integrity. Claim to fame: elaborate costumes. Whether dressed as Medusa, Effie Trinkett or a transplant from the year 1888, she has endeared students and adults alike with her singular desire to connect us all to books. Will be missed for: her joy and enthusiasm on sixth grade project week trips, her creative and inspiring book talks, and her astounding vocabulary. Words most often used to describe her: warm, gracious, firm, flexible, a good listener, always up for something new. Claim to fame: ability to muti-task. Fran frequently could be found grading papers while speaking in rapid-fire French to her mother on the phone while counseling colleagues at the same time. Will be missed for: her presence and influence in Student/Faculty Chorale and in Critical Friends Group (CFG). She set an example to be fearless in advocating and doing what is best for the students.
