When alums return for
reunion, they bring with them
memories, stories, photos
and, on occasion, artifacts.
Stolen artifacts. Or shall we
say, overdue library books.
This copy of Swann's Way
was borrowed from the faculty
library in 1961 by a senior
who forgot to return it after
graduation. It traveled across
the country, spent decades in
California and returned with
the alumnus to Latin during
his 50th reunion in 2011. It's
glad to be home again, though
it doesn't recognize too many
familiar faces…
Uncover more Latin artifacts
on page 56.
I was spirited away in a backpack, traveled
around the country for decades, and 50 years later,
found myself at a cocktail party in Germania Place."
