News & Notes Trustee News Latin is fortunate to have a talented and diverse Board of Trustees committed to the continued success of the school and its mission. e school would like to extend its thanks to departing board members Sonia Chae, Gary Johnson, Cameron McKinney '93, Lara Shipp Shiffman '85, Diane omas, Mary Tyree and Diana Rauner. We would also like to welcome the following new trustees: EDWARD BENFORD is a managing director of Benford Capital Partners, LLC, a Chicago-based private equity firm. He has served on the board of several institutions including St. Chrysostom's Day School and the MetroSquash Gala. He earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University. Ed and his wife, Tracey, have two children at Latin: Will '22 and Reese '24. JONATHAN BERGER '80 is the founder and manager of e Equitable Funds LLC and e Equitable Group, Inc., and is the owner and president of e Berger Company, Inc. He is also a director of the Berger Family Foundation. Jonathan earned his B.A. from Hampshire College and is an alumnus of Latin School. At Latin, Jonathan served on the Development Committee and the Enrollment Management Task Force. He and his wife, Rebecca, recently served as co-chairs of the Annual Fund. ey have two children at Latin: Jessica '17 and Sydney '20. TAYLOR COPE III '01, President, Alumni Association, is an international industrials and resources analyst at William Blair & Company in Chicago. Taylor is a graduate of the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, where he was awarded a joint M.A. (Honors) in International Relations and Social Anthropology. At Latin, Taylor has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2006. As a member of the Alumni Outreach Committee, he co-chaired the first Life After Latin program in 2013 and has participated as a panelist in two College Romans networking events. Taylor and his wife, Erin Fowler, hosted an alumni Scholarship Dinner in 2014. BETH GOLDBERG HELLER '93 (Alumni Trustee) is the executive vice president of Harry Caray's Restaurant Group. Beth received her B.A. in marketing from the University of Illinois. At Latin, she served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2007 to 2015. She is a regular participant in the Life After Latin event, Alumni Week and, along with business partner Grant DePorter '83, has hosted an alumni lunch on National Latin Day every year since the inception of the program. Beth helped plan a record-setting 20th reunion and served as chair for the food and wine category for Auction 2012. Beth and her husband, Rich, have two children at Latin: Richard '24 and Julian '27. ELIZABETH MIHAS is currently a board member of the Lincoln Park Zoo, Ganeden Biotech Inc. and OnDerm LLC. Previously, she was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company in London, New York and Chicago. She holds a B.A. in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford University and an MBA from e Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania. At Latin, Elizabeth is co-chairing the Parents' Committee for the Endowment Campaign and led the 2014 Scholarship Dinner raffle. She and her husband, Dean, have two children at Latin: Marianne '21 and Alice '23. WALTER PRYOR is senior vice president of government relations and general counsel for Ceannate Corporation. Walter currently serves on the board of trustees of his alma mater, Hendrix College, and as president of the board of directors of Legal Prep Charter Academies in Chicago. Walter is a graduate of Hendrix College and received his J.D. degree at Georgetown University Law Center. At Latin, he has served on the Enrollment Management Task Force and works with Parents of Students of Color. He and his wife, Juliette, have two children: Adjua, a senior at Wesleyan University, and Wade, a member of Latin's class of 2016. 13 Latin Magazine ยป Fall 2015
