Latin's Photography Club had another great year in 2014-2015. We started off the year
with light painting. This technique always excites our new members for the entire year. Using
a pixelstick, we created long exposure light drawings in the dark room. We participated
in our annual scavenger hunt contest. This year was largely focused on street and social
justice photography. We discussed different ways we could use photography to benefit our
community-such as taking photos at PAWS, Heart Gallery, and 100 Cameras. Heart Gallery
is an organization that features foster kids awaiting adoption. 100 Cameras gives low income
children cameras and sells their photos through its gallery. All the profits then go to benefit
the community. Concluding the year, we did a social justice mission of our own. We learned
about a school that had done a justice/ethics based photoshoot where students wrote
what they care about in order to raise awareness for some of the topics that matter to its
community. We decided to try that in our own community and ended the year with our very
own "I Care" photoshoot.
