14 All bids at Latin's 2015 Auction are binding, and there will be no refunds. Please read the following procedures carefully. Silent Auction A display card will be placed next to each item listing the item number, name, opening bid, minimum bid increment and package value. To place a bid, guests must use the BidPal handheld device provided to them at registration or access BidPal from their personal iPhone or Android device. You can find items by pressing one of four BLUE buttons on the main menu: Search Items [by name, number, description, category, or donor], Items by Category, All Items, Items with no Bids. Once you have found the item you are interested in, press "Submit Bid" to bid on that particular item. Guests are encouraged to place maximum bids. As a current high bidder, you can set a max bid, or the most amount of money you are willing to spend on an item. The system will automatically bid for you if you are outbid, up to your submitted max amount bid. If someone bids higher than your max bid amount, there will be an outbid symbol (!) on your "My Items" page. In the event that two guests enter the same maximum bid, the guest who entered their maximum bid first will own that bid. At any point in the silent auction, guests may tap the "My Items" button on their device to view which items they are winning or losing. Guests may also tap the "Submit Bid" button to re-bid on a lost item, or the "Increase Max Bid" button to increase their maximum bid on an item they are winning. No bidding on items will be allowed after the silent auction is closed. The winning bid for each item will be viewable from the handheld device once the silent auction has closed. Successful bidders will be notified via their handheld device at the end of the silent auction. In collaborative bidding efforts the person that bids for the group is ultimately held responsible for payment in its entirety if all payments have not been received by Monday, March 9, 2015. An announcement will be made prior to the end of the silent auction. The Development Office staff reserves the right to adjust the closings of categories on the night of the Auction. After payment is made, merchandise and gift certificates can be claimed in the Merchandise Distribution area. Live Auction David Goodman will conduct the Live Auction. Once commenced, the Live Auction will continue without interruption until all items have been sold. To enter a bid, the bidder signals either the auctioneer or one of the spotters who relay bids to the auctioneer. The auctioneer determines the successful bidder. The successful bidder (a) assumes full risk and responsibility of the item purchased; (b) must provide name, address, telephone number and bidding number to a spotter; (c) must pay the full price before the end of the event on February 21, 2015. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer the item in dispute. In the event an item or package becomes a collaborative effort, the bidder accepts full responsibility for payment. Payments must be made in full by March 9, 2015, or the bidder accepts full responsibility for the entire payment. Payment and Merchandise Claim Payment for items purchased must be made in full on February 21, 2015. Cash, checks (made payable to Latin School), Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express will be accepted from approximately 10 p.m. until closing. Any bidder not making arrangements for payment in full will forfeit the right to purchase the item at the discretion of Latin School. This does not limit other rights Latin School may have. Upon closing of the silent auction, bidders will be notified on their handheld device of which items they have won and will be emailed a receipt. Those who pre-registered a Auction Rules
