We are saddened to share the news that Eric Ramsey, a beloved longtime member of Latin's facilities team, passed away on November 1 after a courageous battle against heart disease. He will be remembered for his kind and outgoing personality and his enthusiastic approach to supporting the school in any way that he could. Even during the final months of his life, as he struggled with his health, Eric chose to come to work each week to see his extended family at Latin. Eric loved Latin, and Latin loved him. He will be greatly missed. "Eric, you made coming to school so fun every day," seventh grader Zach Wanger wrote. "I remember being shy coming to school the first day, but you came up to me and said, 'What's going on little man? You'll do great, and don't forget to smile!' at meant so much to me, and I have not forgotten that message. So, I say 'ank you,' for helping develop my character, keeping everyone safe, and giving me a message I will never forget." Eric first came to Latin in 1992 as a cook for the school's food service provider, Sodexo. In 2003, in addition to his full-time job in food services he began working for the school part-time as a security aide. is role transitioned a few years later into a full-time position as a traffic and security aide, a job that allowed him to get to know families in all three divisions of the school. In 2013, Eric was chosen as the recipient of the Augustus K. Maxwell, Jr. Award for having "demonstrated extraordinary support, loyalty and devotion to the Latin School community" and having "rendered such outstanding service as to make a lasting impact on the school."
