53 L AT I N S C H O O L O F C H I C A G O he has been based in northern ailand, providing assistance to ethnic nationality leaders on their work drafting a Federal Constitution for Burma and negotiating a nationwide ceasefire accord with the Burmese government. It has been an amazing experience for Jason so far. He has learned a lot working closely with the leaders and has been fortunate to travel often to different areas on the border and within Burma. After graduating in June with his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago, David Smith started work at the Chicago office of Analysis Group, an international economic consulting firm. He and his wife, Logan Steiner, recently moved to the South Loop. After having tried on residency in a few different states, Rachael Smith has come home to Chicago. She has been participating in Chicago's tech scene and has taken a position as corporate counsel with Other World Computing, a LEED Platinum certified computer hardware and support company specializing in Mac-compatible products. She continues to teach skiing and snowboarding on the weekends to inner city kids and sails in the summer, when there is time. Over New Year's Eve she celebrated her seventh year as an organizer of MAGFest, the 15,000-person music and gaming festival that takes place in Baltimore Harbor, MD. She would love to get in touch with former classmates! Rachael Smith also reports: "Erika Palmer Laiche is living in England and doing awesome machining stuff. Alex Himmel is living in North Carolina and constantly flies to Japan to work on cool physics experiments in a giant mountain. Elisa Shoenburger got her MBA and is doing fun things with data for Loyola University. And Dani Friedland is editor of a bunch of magazines and works ridiculous hours." 2003 Julia Corrin Emily Daviau Kris Ekdahl Alice Mathias Elizabeth Waterman, formerly known as Elizabeth Waugh, launched a new multiplatform project showcasing her triptych photographic portraits of individuals whose work is on the raw, leading edge of the art world. EOS, the website featuring the new work, launched at the end of May. A gallery exhibition and magazine release are planned for the fall. In Elizabeth's words, "EOS sheds light on individuals breaking ground in New York City. It is a daring articulation of those passionate and creative minds." Learn more in the Marketplace section. 2004 Emma Baumgartner Sean Hoffman Adoley Jordan Robert Kurtzman Sharon Madanes Andrew Peterson Julie Geifman graduated from Cardozo Law School in 2013 and is now an immigration attorney at the NYC law firm Wildes & Weinberg. She also recently got engaged. She and her fiancé live in Brooklyn and will be getting married in Chicago next year. We are saddened to report that Lexie Kamerman was killed in a terrorist attack on a café in Kabul in January. We extend our condolences to her family, including her parents, Ali Pohn McCarthy '75 and Jack McCarthy; aunts Lisa Blumenthal Levy '86 and Julie Blumenthal Pfeffer '86; uncle Jeffrey Pohn '73; honorary aunt Susan Ocasek Clayton '76; half-sister Michela Kamerman Ramos '90; classmates and friends.
