You also can send notes to the Alumni Office at alumni@latinschool.org. 1930 Elizabeth Jones Drewes passed away May 9, 2013, just shy of her 101st birthday. We extend our condolences to her classmates, family and friends. 1931 Mary Straus Engleman passed away peacefully on January 27, 2013, in her Highland Park home, surrounded by her large, loving family. At Latin, Mary was a good student who excelled in sports and was named Best Female Athlete of her graduating class. We extend our condolences to her children, Tilden, Robert Jr., twins Steve and John, and Mary Margaret, her 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. 1935 Edwin Seipp Jr. passed away on January 3, 2014. He was a "lifer" at Latin and began his career at Diversey Corporation after graduating from Princeton University. Ed celebrated many accomplishments during his life and was an avid reader, skier and philanthropist. We extend our condolences to his wife, Annie, daughter, Anita, and sons Win, Frederick and Paul, other family members and his friends and classmates. 1945 Gardner Stern and his brothers recently sent in a family picture. See Class of '48 notes. 1948 Gerald Grant Harry Stern e Stern brothers recently got together for a family picture. Harry writes: "Jeff and Gardie both finished at Andover. John and I both graduated at Latin. Our dad paid 50 years of tuition counting kindergarten!" 44 L AT I N M A G A Z I N E A L U M N I 1949 Betsy Rupprecht After 54 years of teaching at the School of the Art Institue of Chicago, Betsy Rupprecht will finally retire this year. As a professor emeritus, she plans to focus her attentions on painting. 1951 Ivan Strauss John Stern and his brothers recently sent in a family picture. See Class of '48. Eric eis passed away on April 28, 2014. He was a veteran, a world traveler, an avid sailor and a lover of life. We extend our condolences to his wife, Deacon Laura Radford Yates eis; his sons, Henry, John, Frank and Peter; his brother, Peter eis '54; and all of his family, friends and classmates. 1954 Save the Date!
