Beyond the Classroom Middle School students continue exploring their interests through athletics, the arts, clubs, affinity groups and leadership opportunities. Counselors, learning specialists, deans, the school nurse and other members of the student support team work closely with teachers and one another to know each student well and provide coordinated academic, social and emotional support. Every rising sixth-grade student has the opportunity to participate in Latin's Learning Profile screening and assessment, helping students, families and teachers better understand how each student learns while identifying strategies that support continued growth. Learning specialists work alongside students to develop effective learning strategies, strengthen self-advocacy and support increasing independence. Social-emotional learning helps students build healthy relationships, develop resilience and navigate the opportunities and challenges of adolescence. The student support team, including deans, counselors, the school nurse, learning specialists and office administrators, meets regularly to discuss student needs and coordinate support across the Middle School.
