'52 On May 19th, 2025, David Noble '52 turned 90 years old. He says he's still young enough to remember many good times at Latin, especially the quality of Francis (Bud) Lovett as a superb English teacher. '60 William Bowe '60 wrote: Though being a short sophomore guard when a taller senior, Steve Heineman '58 and I played basketball for Latin, we overcame our age and height differences to become lifelong friends. This bond was sharply tested earlier this year (2025) when we supported different Super Bowl teams. Frontman for The Byrds, Roger McGuinn '60, returned to his childhood stomping grounds and performed at the Music Hall. William Bowe '60 wrote: Carol Teuscher '60, Steve Kaplan '60, Larry Kurtzon '60 and I look forward to seeing our classmate Roger McGuinn '60 (leader of the Class Notes Byrds and 1991 Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame inductee) perform in the Chicago area shortly before our 1960 Class Reunion in September. '69 Stephen Hauser '69 had the joy of seeing Linda Cohn '69 in her art studio at the Ravenswood summer art show! '71 Latin alumnus and acclaimed filmmaker, Dan Halperin '71, unveiled the remarkable tale of his father, Robert 'Buck' Halperin, a WWII hero and Olympic medalist who is believed to be among the first to storm the beaches on D-Day. His research and documentary paid tribute to his late father and his heroic legacy. '74 Lisa Siegel '74 welcomed a new granddaughter. Lydia Ruth Fried was born July 22, 2024, in San Francisco, and is "beautiful in every way". '82 Brock Silvers '82 wrote: Hello Romans, greetings from Hong Kong! I have a newly published book on Chinese religion and modern culture. "Seeking Immortals" recounts my extensive travels throughout Daoism's holiest sites in an attempt to understand the nature of Immortality—its potential reality and meaning in a modern world. These colorful travel vignettes introduce an endless stream of characters from all walks of life—seekers, recluses, & believers—and provide deep insight into the realities of modern Daoism, with copious notes and selected translations of traditional and canonical texts to provide religious, cultural and historical context. '87 Gabriele Bowers '87 wrote: I graduated from ATS Institute as a Licensed Practical Nurse in January 2024 and am now a nurse at Smith Village Long Term Care. This is my 3rd career (Hotel Management, Private Equity and now Nursing) and I'm loving it! '88 Katherine Davis-Gibbon '88 wrote: My second book, Words, was named a Distinguished Favorite in the 2025 Independent Press Awards, a Reviewer's Choice by the Midwest Book Review and a Best Indie Release of the Week by Kirkus Reviews (week of 4/8/25). In June, Steve Galpern '88 was named Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Analysis at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR), concluding four years as Director of the bureau's Office of Analysis for Near Eastern Affairs. In his new role, he'll oversee all 13 of the bureau's analytic offices. Apart from detail assignments at the National Intelligence Council and on the National Security Council staff from 2014–2016, he worked in INR for the past 17 years, including as an analyst and senior analyst covering multiple areas of the Middle East and North Africa. '91 Diana Rivera '91 wrote: I am currently pursuing my MBA at UCLA's Anderson School of Management, which has been an incredible opportunity to expand my business expertise. Last year, I founded The Agensee, a boutique talent management company specializing in bridging the gap between brands and creators.
