At Latin, we're incredibly grateful for a generous gift from Connie and John Greene that has significantly boosted our programs designed to inspire and empower young women in STEM. Over the past two years, their support allowed us to make remarkable strides. For the first time, Latin students attended the Girls Advancing in STEM (GAINS) Conference at the University of Chicago. This offered an invaluable chance to network with peers, learn from accomplished professionals, explore cutting-edge research and tour innovative STEM workplaces. We also launched STEM College Cultivation, a new initiative where faculty and our College Counseling team strategically connect with top-tier universities, strengthening pathways for our STEM-focused female students. Our students continue to contribute to real-world advancements through the Stan-X fruit fly research project, a unique collaboration with Stanford University, directly informing medical discoveries. Beyond the classroom, our vibrant Women in STEM club is thriving, providing vital spaces for mentorship, guest speakers and deep dives into diverse STEM fields. This support has expanded resources and recruitment, engaging more girls. Finally, this critical investment reinforces Computer Science integration across all grade levels, ensuring every Latin student builds essential skills for an ever- evolving world. This gift from the Greene family is truly transformative, empowering Latin's female graduates to be at the forefront of innovation and discovery. We're immensely grateful for this partnership in cultivating the next generation of women leaders in STEM! Stan-X is an amazing opportunity for students to authentically contribute to scientific research and, in doing so, develops their problem-solving and critical thinking skills."
