The director's other program- related responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: • Working with faculty and staff to promote a better understanding and awareness of student mental health; • Tracking student wellness metrics; • Planning and implementing school-wide wellness activities; • Building community partnerships that will help support the school's health and wellness efforts; and • Finding funding sources for health-related programming. The Director of Student Health and Wellness, which will be a 12-month position, will spend much of their time developing and directing programming to help us meet the health and wellness needs of our students. This process will start with a comprehensive review and assessment of our existing programming, with the goal of identifying best-in-class recommendations and creating a three- to five-year plan for implementing them. The director will also lead the school's nursing team. As part of these responsibilities, they will provide direct nursing care to students; supervise the other nurses during the school year; serve as a liaison to government health agencies; ensure the school's health policies and procedures adhere to state and federal standards; and serve as the lead nurse for Latin 360's summer programs. We understand the critical role that health and wellness play in a child's growth and development, and believe that having an experienced professional leading our programming and care efforts on a year-round basis will benefit every student we serve. Latin is deeply committed to preserving and protecting the health and well-being of our students. This commitment, coupled with the generous support of our community (more than $100,000 in pledges received to date), has led to the creation of a new Director of Health and Wellness position that will spearhead the important initiatives our school is undertaking in the areas of health and wellness programming. Through enhanced programming, we will help ensure that all students have the support they need to thrive socially, emotionally and academically.
