Below are several examples of its impact on our school. • The development of the Portrait of a Latin Learner, which defines and articulates what every student should know and be able to do during their time at Latin. This has been instrumental in grounding and guiding the work we are doing in the areas of teaching and learning. • The use of tools (e.g., milestone assessments, standards-based assessments, etc.) to benchmark student progress, inform interventions and target improvements. The success of these tools is highlighted by the fact that, in recent years, the mean-scaled score on standardized tests taken by every grade level in our Middle School has been higher than the average independent school mean score. • The enhancement of teaching and learning practices across our curriculum. • The creation of a more rigorous school-wide assessment program and the expanded use of data in our classrooms. • The utilization of resources and initiatives such as Folio, Danielson, hiring rubrics and a new teacher mentoring program that have helped support teacher growth and progress. • An increase in on- and off-site professional development opportunities for teachers that have included greater collaboration through Professional Learning Communities, the utilization of researchers and scholars to train faculty, site visits to peer schools to learn about and observe best practices and participation in workshops with the Faculty Fellowship Program. The Teacher Excellence Grant has helped transform our school's learning environment. It has improved our use of data; increased and expanded the professional development opportunities available to our teachers; strengthened our curriculum in all three divisions; and provided a roadmap we can use to prepare our students for the future. We are truly grateful for the generous support of those who funded this grant and believe its impact will continue to benefit our students and teachers for years to come. 1 5 A N N UA L R E P O R T 2 0 2 3 – 24
