In addition, initiatives related to making the Latin experience more equitable and our community more diverse were woven throughout the plan. The goal was — and still is — to build on the solid foundation of work in this area and evolve the approach to align with the goals to make Latin the school we want it and need it to be for students. The implementation of Latin's plan began in earnest by defining diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) for the school in order to provide a shared vision. The events of 2020 compelled Latin to make the school's priorities related to diversity, equity and inclusion more specific and more urgent. Last fall, informed by feedback from students, families, faculty, staff and alumni, Latin articulated specific goals and action steps in five key areas: representation, accountability, inclusion, professional development, and education and curriculum. These were informed by the climate assessment conducted in winter 2020, the annual survey, the Survivors of Latin Instagram page and the Demanding Accountability student group. The 2020-21 Report Highlights serve as an update on progress toward these goals.
