ALUMNI Alumni Week During a week each April, today's Latin students have an opportunity to learn about the history of the school, the experiences of alumni from different eras and how they will one day stay connected to Latin as alumni. Throughout Alumni Week, the Alumni Office invites special guests, shares its archives, and comes up with games and activities to engage students in all three divisions. Lower schoolers enjoyed archival photos providing then-and-now glimpses of familiar spaces like the gym with the stage, the cafeteria as the squash court, and the rooftop playground with different equipment through the years. They also welcomed alumni parents and grandparents to their classrooms to talk about what Latin was like when they were children. 1 2 In the middle school, students raced to answer daily trivia questions. At the end of the week, they cheered on three eighth graders as they competed against a group of alumni middle school parents to answer questions from the middle school curriculum or Latin history in the third annual Roman Cup Trivia Challenge. Team Alumni, comprised of Suzie Dry Golub '82, Vince Cozzi '83, and Lesly Adolph Koo '88, performed an impressive rendition of the alma mater, joined midway by the entire middle school student body. Despite the alums' excellent memory, Team Students came away with the trophy this year, leaving the score 2-to-1 in favor of the students. Upper school students searched the building for Hidden Romans, photos and bios of eight alumni, and had the chance to meet alumni in different fields through the Life After Latin breakfast series. 3 4 5 1 Sophomores Lon Hutchinson '15 and Patrick Elliott '15 found Hidden Roman Connie Jackson '77. This was their second year in a row as successful sleuths. 2 Beth Goldberg Heller '93 and Heather Sullivan Webster '91 share a laugh over yearbooks with Ms. Deeney's first graders. 3 Sandy McNally '57 and daughter Carrie McNally '87 visited the classrooms of third grade grandson Weston Maechling '22 and first grade grandson Logan Maechling '24. 4 Middle School Roman Cup Trivia Challenge 2013: Vince Cozzi '83, James Konokas '17, Isabel Supera '17, Brooks Marks '17, Lesly Adolph Koo '88 and Suzie Dry Golub '82. 5 Lara Shipp Shiffman '85, Dan Ciral '85 and David Katz '84 amazed the SK'ers by saying they had been friends since they were in first grade. 82 L AT I N M AGAZINE
