Introducing JK Et Cetera In our ongoing efforts to better serve our families, Latin will be launching JK Et Cetera this fall to complement our current half-day junior kindergarten. Junior kindergarten students will now have the option to participate in a full-day of programming supervised by Latin faculty and teaching aids in the lower school. The program will offer a variety of discovery-based learning opportunities, and children will be encouraged to explore, negotiate and create meaning within their environment while also developing essential social skills. JK Et Cetera will have its own space on the third floor of the lower school in remodeled classrooms including the "Roamin' Room," where students will be able to work on large motor development through dance, movement, tumbling, traversing the climbing wall, and negotiating obstacle courses. They also will spend time in "Inquiry Alley," a room dedicated to allowing children free exploration among art activities, puzzles, books, small manipulatives, dramatic play areas, an aquaponic garden and a sensory table. Snack, lunch, outdoor play time and quiet time will be a part of each day. In addition to enriching the junior kindergarten experience, JK Et Cetera will give our JK families more options for structuring their child's day and allow them to coordinate more easily with Latin's Extended Day program.
