Marriages Ben Horwich '95 to Amy Tovar on September 29, 2007 figuring out what they want to do eventually. Tom is interested in criminal justice and sociology, and is planning to go into Law Enforcement; Julie is interested in journalism, and has been very active in the speech and debate team this year (here's my "Mom bragging": she's qualified for Nationals, to be held in Portland, OR, in April). Mark and I will be married 30 years this August (you think that's a long time, but next year will be our 40th anniversary of meeting on a blind date in high school, thanks to Ruthee!). How time flies when you're having fun! Mark has his own business doing painting and home repairs. I work as an IV nurse and have recently helped to co-found a local network of AVA (Association for Vascular Access) called IVAN (Illinois Vascular Access Network), with the main purpose of promoting education and educational awareness for and by IV nurses. I periodically see Randy Randazzo '74, who is a urologist at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, where I work. Once in a blue moon, I get to see other classmates, like Tom Garmisa (and his wife, Julie), Rick Strilky (his wife Patricia and Baby Jack), Michael Pink (and his wife Sharon), and Jerry Meites. Where are the rest of you? Let's do something for our 40th. As busy as we all are, if we start now, we might actually get something going!" 1974 REUNION YEAR Mary Haber Here is Jimmy Adinamis' report on the '74 annual luncheon: "Lawrence (Hedblom) came up with the idea of an "annual" since we've now done this two years in a row right after January 1st – isn't THAT a fascinating thought! As usual, a great time was had by all – lots of laughs and lots of very interesting conversation. And, as usual, it all goes by way too fast. If we didn't have to rely on Abbe's (Anderson) moon rising in her seventh house every time, it would be a lot easier to plan, but then again, she's worth it! For the record, all who are in or around the Chicago area at that time of year are invited to attend. In fact, ALL who want to come to Chicago JUST for the annual luncheon are welcome!" Amanda Schain '95 to Todd Renschler in August 2007 Seth Acker '97 to Allecia Vermillion on June 28, 2008 Debbie Burklund has decided to pursue her first love (professionally, anyway) of holistic health care and began a reflexology practice a couple of years ago. (See our new Marketplace section for details.) She is in regular touch with the usual suspects: Michael Weinstein, Jim Adinamis, Abbe Anderson, Lawrence Hedblom and Lesley Miller. Colin Clark writes: "I plan to attend the Class of '74 reunion in October 2009. Earlier this month, classmate Raymond Cyrus stayed with my wife and I in Washington for five days. It was only the second time we've spoken since I left Latin in 1971." Colin stays in touch with Robert Van Mell, Jim Adinamis and Abbe Anderson. If classmates are coming to Washington, please let him know. He loves having guests! 1975 Peter Bastone, Steven Field Anthony Mansueto is currently living in Dallas and recently completed a term as Dean of Humanities at Collin College and is looking for a new administrative or faculty position. "I am a political theologian, philosopher, and social theorist and have published four books which focus on re-grounding a reasoned approach to fundamental questions of meaning and value and re-theorizing the relationship between human civilization and humanity's transcendental vocation. I have also been active in interfaith organizing and dialogue (much of it through Seeking Wisdom, an interfaith, research, education and organizing institute which I founded in 1991) focused on creating a public arena constituted by deliberation around fundamental questions of meaning and value. I am married to Maggie Vosburg, who I met in Dallas in 1988. We recently adopted a daughter (Maria Coeli Tien Bo Xiao) from Poyang in the Jianxi Province of China. She is two-and-a-half, with all the joys and struggles that that implies. I would welcome news and contact from old friends and others I knew at Latin. Latin School of Chicago 35
