1971 1972 Stacey Howard Grande David Grant Jennifer Crane Weinstein shares that "2008 was an exciting year for us in the dog show ring. My girl Kayla, Champion JenBur's Crown of Laurels CGC, a second generation of my breeding, finished the year as a 'Top Twenty Boxer.' On February 10, 2009, Kayla competed at the Westminster Dog Show in Madison Square Garden, NY. What a thrill it was to be there with her among the crème de la crème of dogs and to realize she was one also! We got a lot of publicity with articles in the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune. My boys are doing well: Jeff's teaching, in graduate school and on a semi-pro football team, Eric is in college, and Brian is here working full time. I am continuing with my charity work on the board of the Medical Research Institute Council of Children's Memorial Hospital, traveling to dog shows, and enjoying my three grandchildren from my stepdaughter." Steven Blutter writes: "I just passed the 10-year mark in my hopefully last career, health insurance. I've developed a specialty helping people and companies that have had difficulties with our crazy system. Pre-existing conditions, prices going crazy and so on. It's emotionally very rewarding. Along with that, I'm still doing art photography." (See our new Marketplace Ben Hollis was sad to hear of Studs Terkel's passing. He continues his work celebrating the human experience and giving people opportunities to tell their stories with "What's It Like To Be You?", a live theatrical performance where he interviews audience members about their lives. David Stuart '75 recently attended one of Ben's shows and some collaboration may follow. Ben also continues pitching television projects and producing video for a host of clients and individuals. He encourages everyone to check out another of his creative projects: The Ben Museum. "I read Walt Whitman in high school and college, and his spirit of self-acceptance and expansive love continues to move me. To that end, I have founded The Ben Museum. Come visit. My hope is that you will be inspired to open your own museum to share your stories and to let your loved ones express their appreciation for you NOW, before it's too late." Ben sends best wishes to all and hopes you'll pop in some time. And what of the Economic Downturn? Says Ben, "Forget recession – it's time for recess!" (See our new Marketplace section for details on all of these recent projects from Ben.) section for a link to Steven's online gallery.) 1 2 3 1 Greta Weil '70's daughters: Signe and Augusta. 2 Jen Crane Weinstein '71's champion boxer, Kayla. 3 Ben Hollis '72 receiving the Studs Terkel Media Award from the late Terkel for excellence covering and reflecting Chicago's diverse communities.
