Greenwood agrees, noting that after Latin acquired the property where
the garden is located on North Dearborn Street, the school deliberately
took a step back. "We hit the pause button so we could decide what we
wanted to do with [it]," she said.
The deliberation and planning has paid off, with a beautiful space that will
bring smiles to future generations of Latin students.
"Latin has given so much to me, more than I can ever give to it," said
Greenwood, who has been at Latin for 27 years. "I am touched and
humbled that this space has been named for me. To have something
that's so alive, that has a spirit and a feel to it, it's wonderful. The garden
will bring a lot of joy to a lot of children."
"Latin is so thoughtful
about everything it does.
In making decisions, the
school always does an
amazing job of consulting
every possible resource.
The school is really careful
to understand why it is
doing something and how
that choice fits into the
bigger picture."
