Middle School Student body 299 in grades 5-8 School day Classes run from 8 a.m. – 3:20 p.m. on an eight-day rotation with six 50-minute blocks. Environment Our middle school vibrates with adolescent energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm. It is a supportive and nurturing space that encourages students to explore, get to know their strengths, and build self-confidence. Curriculum English, language arts, visual and performing arts, history and social studies, language (Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Latin), library, mathematics, physical education, science and technology. Outside the classroom Athletics Cross country, field hockey, soccer, swim club, volleyball, water polo, basketball, baseball and softball. Clubs and affinity groups Autism Speaks Club, Biking Club, Claymation Club, middle school newspaper, Monty Python Club, Recess Book Club and Service Club. Annual events and activities Grade-level retreats, Winter Carnival, Middle School Festival Night, Poetry/Science Day, theater productions, Project Week, eighth grade trips and Day of Service. Special programs Science Olympiad, eighth grade Civil War unit and the McCutcheon School tutoring program.
