There is a great deal of respect at Latin between teachers and students." – LATIN FACULTY MEMBER Outside the classroom Athletics Cross country, field hockey, golf, soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, swimming, baseball, softball, track and field and water polo. Clubs and affinity groups Backstage Club, Best Buddies, Black Student Union, ECCO (student-produced literary magazine), Latin Alliance of Women, Improv Club, Juggling Club, Free the Children Club, The Forum (student newspaper) and many more. Performing arts Acting and improv ensembles, instrumental groups including the Jazz Band, singing groups including Gospel Choir and Student/Faculty Chorale. Annual events and activities Grade-level retreats, Convocation, Homecoming Pep Rally, Martin Luther King Day of Service, Basketball Night at Loyola, Project Week, fall and spring theater productions and concerts and Senior Luncheon. Special programs Latin's Initiative for Ethics (LIFE) brings nationally respected speakers to the school to discuss contemporary ethics issues; the Capstone Studies Program allows students to work on year-long projects using Chicago resources; Nazi Mind is a nationallyacclaimed intensive history seminar that uses original documents; Service Learning provides students with opportunities to interact with a variety of Chicago-based service organizations.
